Product Description

(ON)-OFF-(ON)  Momentary Switch

The VLD1-A60B is a fairly common and flexible rocker switch.  It is Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) and it’s function is (ON)-OFF-(ON), where (ON) represents a momentary function.  It has one independent lamp at the top of the switch  (What’s this?).  This switch would be used when you want to feed (2) loads from 1 or 2 sources momentarily (like opening and closing an electric or hydraulic door/hatch, or a boat’s tilt/trim system).  The lamp acts as a backlight, triggered by an external signal.

This switch may also be used as a SPDT switch by simply not using 3 of the terminals.

We say it’s flexible for a reason: Notice in the wiring schematic, that the two halfs of the switch are isolated from each other… which allows flexibility to use, say… the right side (pins 4-5-6) for current switching, and the left side (1-2-3) for a low voltage external lamp.  With pins 1-2-3 and 4-5-6 isolated, you can provide two different inputs… for instance, you could put 12V+ into pin 2, and 12V- into pin 5, and with a few jumpers can reverse polarity on an electric motor, which is a very common use for this switch.

This is a rocker switch body only.  This V-series switch is meant to be paired with our custom etched rocker actuators (covers) or other actuators for a complete switch unit.  All actuators sold on this site will fit this switch.  When using our custom etched actuators you would NOT want to add a “Bottom Lens” for this switch (What’s this?).

Like all our rocker switches this is a genuine Carling Technologies product.  It is IP68 sealed dustproof and waterproof.

The Right Switch
I have a class A R/V that has an Up/Down power shade for it's windshield. It acts as both a complete privacy cover and also as a sun visor. On a recent adventure, the shade powered down when I was setting up for our weekend of playing music at a festival giving us privacy through the huge windshield. When we were getting ready to leave, it powered to the up position with no problem. However, when on the road and I needed to lower it some as my sun visor, it would not move in the downward direction. It would raise, but not lower. My assumption was that I had a bad rocker switch controlling the shade. I attempted to buy through an RV dealer and had no luck with a couple places. Another told me they were not dealers for my brand RV so he wouldn't have the part. But, he found Rocker Switch Pros on line and gave me the information he downloaded from the web site, which looked good. He did warn me to be cautious as he has never dealt with them before. I did email them with my current switch info and got info back via email and a phone call that let me take a chance on them. So I ordered a switch. The price was very good for an exact replacement. Shipping was OK. I replaced the original with the new switch and everything worked perfectly! If I remember correctly, the markings on the side of the switch were exactly that of the original manufacturer. I guess that makes me a happy camper!
